We would Not be getting a South Of Midnight without Phil. (If Starfield was PS5 exclusive and No Mans Sky was Xbox exclusive you and all like you would say No Mans Sky Quality is not comparable to StarField) We certainly would Not get any of this for 10 dollars a month either. We would have gotten A Bugthesda Starfield that had a much smaller scale on multiple competing platforms instead of one with way less bugs and console industry leading scale. We would have gotten No Open World Fable. Instead Only Isometric Pillars Of Exile Only. We would have gotten No Initiative Perfect Dark and Setup to Purchase Tomb Raider.(Give Time) We would have gotten No Open World Clock Work rpg just like open world State Of Decay, avowed and Pillars Of Exile. We would have gotten a small scale cheap Hell Blade instead of one with that level of facial physics animations and yes they can do it like ratchet and clank because it is not open world like Horizon but super linear like Rift Apart. We would have gotten a small scale low quality and cheap avowed unlike the one shown that still needs some work. Without Phil: We would have gotten a BUGGY and cheap small scale State Of Decay with multiplayer banding. But Sony shouldn't be free from criticism. In fact, their output has absolutely been worse and I agree that games halfway through development like Starfield don't really count. Btw, not suggesting MS is better or anything. But lets be honest about the reality - the only "true" first party PS5 games that Sony have released are the two Insomniac games and Astros Playroom. Returnal - Wasn't really a Sony first party game - studio were third party at the time of release Demon's Souls - Sony didn't own the studio at launch, although they do own the IP so "second party" I guess? Final Fantasy 16 - Not a Sony game Miles Morales - Basically an expansion pack and also a PS4 game FF7R - Not a Sony game and also not a PS5 game The Last of Us Part 1: A remake of a PS3 game Personal 5 Royal - Not a Sony game Star Ocean - Not a Sony game GT7 - A PS4 game ported to PS5 GOW: Ragnarok - A PS4 game ported to PS5 HFW: A PS4 game ported to PS5 Astros Playroom - A small project that comes pre-installed with every PS5 Not knocking the quality of these games. If we are going to nitpick about MS games not counting, then the same needs to be applied to here and if you dig deeper into this "list", it's not really as impressive as its made out to be (imo of course). "Since the release of the PS5, Sony has already released solid first-party titles and third-party titles like Returnal, Ratchet & Clank, Demon's Souls, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, Final Fantasy 16, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarök, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Astro's Playroom, The Last of Us Part 1, Persona 5 Royal, Star Ocean: The Second Story R and more." I'm not convinced by Sonys output at all this gen. It doesn't need someone like Phil nor Booty. Sony's gaming division is performing well as it is. Starfield is the only title that has been well-received, so all Phil promoting like it's the holy grail of gaming. Apart from Forza, what other decent first-party games of it's our IP have been released for the Series X this generation? Halo is not a heavy knockout like it was in the past. Since the release of the PS5, Sony has already released solid first-party titles and third-party titles like Returnal, Ratchet & Clank, Demon's Souls, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, Final Fantasy 16, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarök, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Astro's Playroom, The Last of Us Part 1, Persona 5 Royal, Star Ocean: The Second Story R and more. However, as soon as PS5 sales surpassed those of the Series X, Phil suddenly changed his tune, claiming that sales don't matter and remaining quiet about the actual figures. At first, Phil were loudly announcing the number of Xbox units shipped and sales. It's laughable they even attempted to buy out Nintendo at one point. All they've been doing is pushing Game Pass and throwing money, buying whatever studios they can. The last statement, in particular, never actually happened. "Powa of the cloud," "The world's most powerful console," "12 teraflops of power," "We're going to focus on building our own IPs and creating world-class first-party studios." All Microsoft does is PR talk.
